I’m Mark Anthony Smith, a versatile British producer, director, and actor with over 30 years of experience in Drama, Theatre, and Media education. Based in North Yorkshire, I specialise in drama with a focus on creating compelling characters, evoking authentic emotions, and bringing complex scripts to life.

Beyond teaching, I’ve built a diverse portfolio in media production. In recent years, I’ve taken on supporting roles while developing my own projects, continually honing my skills and expanding my professional network.

Professional Background

Producer/ Director and Actor (Mark Anthony Voices)

In 2019, I established my voice company, Mark Anthony Voices, creating voice characters for clients worldwide. I have completed various projects for audio producers, museums, and visitor attractions. As a mobile filmmaker, I have also produced professional content for several local businesses, and have written, produced, and directed a full-broadcast TV show, pitched to the BBC in London.

I bring over 30 years of experience teaching Drama, Media, and English across a range of schools and colleges, engaging with A-level, GCSE, and Key Stage 3 students. My extensive teaching career has provided me with a deep understanding of secondary education and fueled my passion for producing and directing both live and recorded drama.

Throughout my time in education, I successfully produced and directed numerous youth theatre productions, including Shakespeare Festivals, North Yorkshire Schools Youth Festivals, and a media documentary for the National Student Drama Festival. I have also taught, moderated, assessed, and directed students from Years 7 to 13, working across both state and independent school sectors.
